Medicaid

Medicaid is the single largest source of health care coverage for kids in the United States, playing a critical role in children growing up healthy. About 37 million children rely on Medicaid for health care services, with children representing over 40% of all Medicaid enrollees. However, there continues to be access issues for children in need of physical and behavioral health services and those who must travel across state lines to receive lifesaving and often time-sensitive medical treatment.

We must enhance Medicaid support to provide an appropriate and consistent financing stream and framework for the pediatric provider workforce that provides timely access to needed care for children, including when out-of-state care is medically necessary. To protect our future, Medicaid must be safeguarded for the children who depend on it to lead healthy, productive lives.
